This Gurudwara holds a special importance because of its interesting history. This is the place where Shri Gurunanak Ji actually came and performed one of the total 4 Udaasis in the year 1568. Udaasi refers to the religious trips Guru Nanak Ji took around India to spread words of peace and spirituality. Apart from Indore, Shri Gurunanak Ji also went across Betma and that led to the start of Betma Saheb Gurudwara as well. The place where Imlisaheb is located today had Khan River at backside and there was a Tamarind Tree (Imli) next to it. This was the same tree where Shri Gurunanak Ji sat and meditated. The Lord used to preach people about Shabad and the Guru. A small gathering led to an interesting setup near tree which was managed by people themselves. Later, Shri Guru Singh Sabha Indore made a beautiful and amazing Gurudwara on the very same place where the tree was located and hence, it got its name as “ImliSaheb”. The Gurudwara was registered in the year 1942-1943. There is also a place where the Sants used to stay in Gurudwara and it is the same place where Langar is organised on daily basis now. The Gurudwara is looked after by Shri Guru Singh Sabha, and the Director Mr. Manjeet Singh Ji Bhatia of committe successfully manages a huge crowd everyday and even arranges special events beautifully.
